'Father of fibre optics' Kapany awarded Padma Vibhushan posthumously.

 Indian-American physicist Narinder Singh Kapany has been awarded Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award of India, posthumously. Kapany, who passed away in December 2020, was known as the 'father of fibre optics', he introduced the term 'fibre optics' in a 1960 article. Born in Punjab, he earned over 100 patents throughout his career and founded several optical technology companies.
